Professor Jurgensen joined the Allen College School of Nursing as faculty in 2021. Prior to her academic role, she worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, which included working as a float nurse in the Resource Pool at Allen Hospital, a pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at a children’s advocacy center, and a clinical educator for a home health and hospice agency. In addition to her role at Allen College, Lisa is a member of the Black Hawk County Sexual Assault Response Team and was involved in the inception of the county-wide SANE program in 2020. Lisa received her Master of Science and Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education and her Bachelor of Science and Nursing (BSN) from Allen College, and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Allen College. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) for adults and adolescents.

Scholarship/Research:
Professor Jurgensen’s area of interest for scholarship and research includes topics related to advancements in the field of forensic nursing and quality improvement efforts to improve care for target populations.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Allen College?
I really enjoy watching student’s grow and make connections through interactions in the classroom, clinical setting, and simulation lab. The smaller cohort size makes it possible to get to know students on an individual level and be an integral part of their experience at Allen College.
